Intellisys Project Enterprise 3.60
Intellisys Project Enterprise 3.60 is a project management system, that allows multiple users concurrent access to a shared database of projects. It runs on Mac, Linux, Unix and Windows.
This document explains how to install and set up Intellisys Project Enterprise 3.60 software. (The document is in the file called Readme.html in the directory where you installed the application).
Download and Installation
If you are reading this document, then you have probably already succesfully downloaded and installed the software. If not, then please click here for a detailed description.Using the software
To start using the software you need to (1) start the server and (2) connect to the server from a client machine. Starting the server is described below. Connecting to the server from a client machine involves opening the application's URL in a web browser, where one can see a web page with various options for using the software. Both the above steps are explained in detail below.Starting and stopping the server
The processes that start and stop the server, once initiated, run quietly in the background with a minimal amount of text notification to the user. For the rest of this document we will use INSTALL_DIR to denote the folder called IPE that is created by the install process.
| Platform | Instructions |
| Mac OS X |
Navigate to folder INSTALL_DIR. Double-click the application startIPE to start the server. Double-click the application stopIPE to stop the server. |
| Windows |
Navigate to folder INSTALL_DIR. Double-click the file startIPE.bat to start the server. Double-click the file stopIPE.bat to stop the server. |
| Linux |
In a shell window, cd to folder INSTALL_DIR. Type sh startIPE.sh to start the server. Type sh stopIPE.sh to stop the server. |
| Any Unix platform with Java |
In a shell window, cd to folder INSTALL_DIR. Type sh startIPE to start the server. Type sh stopIPE to stop the server. |
Connecting to the server from client machines
Once you have started the server you may connect to the server machine from other machines. Use the network name or IP address of the server machine wherever HOSTNAME is used in the following description.
From any client machine, in a web browser, go to the URL
http://HOSTNAME:8080/IPE
(Note: IPE has to be ALL CAPS, ipe will not work.)
You should see a welcome screen for Intellisys Project Enterprise. Follow the instructions on this page to launch the application on the client machine. For most client machines this involves no more than clicking on a button in a web page to start the application.
If the server machine is not connected to the network, then, for testing purposes, you can use localhost or 127.0.0.1 for HOSTNAME (in this case you will be able to use the client application only from the same machine).
Backing up the data
It is recommended to take regular backups of the database, to avoid loss of work. If using an external database, follow the backup procedure of the specific database. If using the bundled database engine, the backup proedure is as follows:- Stop the IPE server
- Back up the directory: INSTALL_DIR/tomcat/webapps/IPEData
- Restart the IPE server
